We worked on creating a series of five alternative planted areas in this large country garden. This included a wild and beautifully planted herbaceous border, edged with stilted hornbeams and beech hedges. Large ceramic urns were set centrally within herringbone brickwork blocks of paving. Two traditional brick columns lead you through to the orchard, a magical and ethereal place blossoming in the spring and producing apples in the autumn. Beneath the apple trees, a hand carved twisting oak bench with wooden spheres rests on the flat, textured surface. Cloud-pruned box, Alchemilla mollis and Digitalis purpurea ‘Alba’, create an inviting and pretty scene at the front of the house.
